CCSO: Detectives investigating inmate death

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (WWSB) - The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an inmate death.

CCSO reports that a female inmate was pronounced dead at the hospital after she was found unresponsive in her cell with a piece of fabric around her neck.

She was originally found unresponsive last night around 7:30pm.

CCSO Corrections staff immediately performed CPR and began life-saving measures to help the inmate.

Unfortunately, she died at the hospital around a half hour later.

This is still an active investigation, and no further details are available at this time.
