Daniela Hurtado joined the ABC7 news team as a reporter in January 2020. She was born in Venezuela and grew up in Miami, FL. She's wanted to be a journalist since she was a young girl and is grateful to be doing what she loves every day.
She's excited to be back in the Sunshine State after covering crime and courts in snowy Bismarck, North Dakota. While at KFYR-TV, Daniela also did investigative work. During her time in the Midwest she covered high profile murder cases, uncovered allegations of assault at the state prison, covered severe weather from blizzards in -20 degrees to deadly tornadoes. Her final assignment was a border special where she was sent to southern Texas.
She's a 2017 University of Florida graduate where she majored in telecommunication news and political science (GO GATORS!). Her calling is investigative journalism. So you'll catch her diving deep into documents and making FOIA requests.
She's excited to tell YOUR stories and to make Sarasota home. When she's not working or consuming news you can find her on the beach watching the sunset, dancing, spending time with family, listening to true crime podcasts or watching Dateline. If you want to know more about her, have a news tip, or have allegations that need uncovering, send her an email.
And be sure to connect with her on Facebook and Twitter!
