Kyle Spicer went missing in the area of Culebra Avenue around noon Sunday. Police say he left home after getting into an argument with his parents, something that has happened previously. Reports from eyewitnesses placed him in the area of River Road and U.S. 41 between 1:30 and 2 p.m.
His mother released a statement late Wednesday night, defending her son, saying that for more than two years, she and her family have been the subject of a “campaign of hatred and persecution” on social media and blaming the media portrayal of the incident.
Witnesses tell ABC7 that the attack happened just before 9 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of Lemon Avenue and Main Street. Lawrence Grampp, a homeless man, is the owner of the dog, who is named Champion. He tells ABC7 that the attack started as a dog fight.
