Florida Highway Patrol says around 5am, 21-year-old Blake Horn of Bradenton was driving eastbound on Webster Street, west of Robinson Avenue, when he fell asleep. Horn lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a utility pole and cable box.
It happened around 9:10 Sunday night on U.S. 41 and Rockley Boulevard in South Venice. According to state troopers, a 54 year-old man was riding his bike against traffic, heading southbound in the northbound lane on 41.
Deputies say they were called to 5737 Clark Rd. after 2:45am Wednesday and found three people with gunshot wounds who’d been involved in a fight. They were transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital and deputies say the injuries were not life-threatening.
Vladimir Altman, 22, faces charges for allegedly pointing the laser as a tactical flight officer and pilot were on routine patrol Wednesday night. When suddenly, they spotted someone shining a green laser at them.
The accident happened around 5 a.m. between Arlington and Hawthorne on U.S. 41 and closed the northbound lanes as police investigated. The lanes re-opened around 7:15 a.m. and traffic is again moving normally through the area.
Troopers say around 7:30am, 62-year-old Deelena Fae White of Venice was driving north on US 41 approaching 1st Street and was conducting multiple lane changes within the inside and outside travel lanes.
