Summer Smith is the Evening News Anchor with WWSB ABC in Sarasota, FL.

Summer is a Manatee County native and thrilled to be working in her hometown! During the week, you will find Summer co-anchoring the 5:00pm, 5:30pm, 6:00pm, 6:30pm and 11:00pm newscasts.

Summer has her Bachelor of Science in communication from Florida State University and her master’s degree in journalism from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University.

Summer has worked in the news industry for nearly 25 years. During her career, she has worked in Sarasota/Bradenton, Tallahassee, Colorado, West Virginia, New York City and Tampa.

During her career, she has covered presidential visits, hurricanes, local elections, hard news, and feature stories. Summer is a successful, passionate journalist who loves her community and enjoys improving it by reporting and updating residents and visitors to the area about daily events going on in their lives.

While Summer loves her career, she cherishes her time with her family. She has been married to her husband, Bryan for 20 years. They have three children together, Camden (14), Campbell (11) and Layton (5). They also have a dog and three cats. In addition to enjoying family dinners together, travelling and shopping, Summer enjoys cheering on her son playing baseball and her daughters competing in gymnastics.
