Sterling Kaplan
Operations and TMP Manager
Sterling Kaplan joined the ABC7 team in March 2022, bringing a strong foundation in live production and a passion for storytelling. A graduate of Daytona State College with an associate’s degree in broadcast production, Sterling got his start freelancing with major sports networks including ESPN, the NBA, NFL, and ESPN+, where he gained hands-on experience in fast-paced, high-profile environments.
After just one year at ABC7, Sterling was promoted to Assistant Production Manager, and in 2025 he stepped into the role of Operations Manager. Today, he oversees all control room operations, technical crews, and field gear for both ENG and SNG/microwave transmissions. He also leads major live remote productions across the Suncoast.
When he’s off the clock, Sterling can usually be found cheering on the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field or repping the Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium.
