Shane Battis is our weekend morning anchor/reporter who joined the ABC7 news team in September 2021.
Before arriving in the Sunshine State, Shane called West Texas home. He worked at KOSA-TV in Odessa, Texas for three years first as a reporter then as an anchor, reporter and producer. In his time out West, he covered a wide swath of stories from murder cases, protests, local elections and devastating natural disasters. In 2019, he helped his team win a regional Edward R. Murrow award for its nonstop coverage of the Odessa mass shooting.
He’s a graduate of Texas Christian University where he earned a Broadcast Journalism degree at the Bob Schieffer School of Journalism. Although he’s called Texas home for many years, he’s spent most of his life hopping around the country back and forth between Georgia, Southern California, Colorado, Texas and Utah before making his way to Florida.
He loves everything outdoors and is always on the hunt to discover new restaurants and coffee shops. If you see him on the street, feel free to say hello!
