Suncoast View visits Dakin Dairy Farms to learn about life on a working dairy
MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. (WWSB) - If you’ve ever wondered where your milk really comes from, Suncoast View got a firsthand look today at one of Manatee County’s most unique local gems: Dakin Dairy Farms.
Suncoast View reporter headed out to the family-owned, working dairy farm to learn what farm life looks like up close.
Dakin Dairy Farms has deep roots in the community. It’s family owned and operated and currently run by third-generation dairy farmers. The farm’s bottling plant is also especially rare for our area: it’s the only cow-to-plant operation on the Southwest Florida coast, meaning the process goes from the cows to the bottle right there on site.
And you don’t have to work in TV to get the full experience.
Dakin Dairy Farms is open to the public in a few different ways:
- Farm tours (public and private): A guided experience that walks you through how milk travels from the cow to the bottle.
- Open-to-the-public areas (no tour needed): Visitors can stop by the farm market, check out the playground, and visit the small animal barn.
- Special events and group visits: The farm hosts school field trips, birthday parties, a Fall Festival, and other seasonal events throughout the year.
Their tours are designed to be fun for all ages. It’s a chance to explore a sustainable dairy farm right here in Manatee County, learn something new, and leave with a better appreciation for what goes into the food and drinks many of us enjoy every day.
