Kick, punch and break boards at Sunset Coast Karate Studio

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - A karate studio in Sarasota is offering classes for children and adults starting at age 3.

Sunset Coast Karate Studio was founded by Jazmyn Friedman, who said she has been practicing karate since she was young.

“I’ve been doing karate since I was 8 years old, I’ve moved to Orlando and Georgia for a total of 7 years to learn how to run this business, I’ve known I wanted this since 6th grade and have a pretty motivational story about how it all happened,” Friedman said.

What the studio offers

During a visit to the studio, a reporter learned basic kicking techniques and broke a board.

Friedman said the studio’s programming extends beyond traditional martial arts instruction.

“We offer flexible open schedules, private lessons, school and church programs, camps, Parents Night Out, and high level training for students ready to level up,” Friedman said. “Our focus goes beyond kicks and punches, we build character, confidence, and community that lasts a lifetime.”
