SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - The St. Regis Longboat Key is offering a $187,000 “Coast to Coast” soccer getaway package for World Cup fans seeking an ultra-luxury experience.

The package begins with two nights in the presidential suite at the St. Regis Bal Harbour in Miami. Guests then board a private seaplane to Sarasota Bay, where a Bentley transports them to the St. Regis Longboat Key for a four-night stay.

The presidential suite is where the guest will be staying at the Longboat Key property. The suite spans 3,700 square feet with four bedrooms, accommodating up to eight guests. The suite costs between $15,000 and $17,000 per night on average and is the largest suite in the area.

World Cup viewing and activities

The resort will transform the Emerald Cove Grotto into a viewing area for World Cup matches. The package includes a personal soccer coach from IMG Academy to help guests improve their skills.

“It’s a big thing. I think we have a lot of visitors from around globe so we’re really excited,” said Winfred van Workum, general manager.

“I see this already in our July bookings that a lot of people will attend these games or visit United States and they adding some vacation too so we’re excited.”

Shellyanne Myrielinedo, the spa’s director, said the resort can help guests relax regardless of match outcomes.

“Absolutely we will help with that mind and body connection because it’s important and I understand you know they may not win the game but hopefully they win,” Myrielinedo said.

Chef Marla Loen said she plans to create customized dining experiences for guests.

“I’m a Soccer fan, but honestly it’s connecting with the guest you know, ending the day in a note where they can feel more wholesome because the food that we do provide here is at the highest level,” Loen said.

Growing trend in luxury sports travel

Similar VIP sports packages are available for other major events. Kentucky Derby packages start around $15,000, while Super Bowl experiences for the upcoming season in Los Angeles range from $18,000 to $20,000.

Doc Terry, a senior professor at the University of Central Florida, said these curated travel packages are becoming more common.

“It’s happening like it’s never happened before and it’s a trend that’s going to grow with time,” Terry said.

The St. Regis World Cup soccer experience still has openings available.
