Man arrested after shooting stepson multiple times, fleeing deputies in Bradenton
BRADENTON, Fla. (WWSB) - A man was arrested Friday after deputies say he shot his stepson multiple times, fled from law enforcement and crashed near a restaurant.
The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called at about 12:06 p.m. to the 5300 block of 16th Street West for a shooting with injuries.
Deputies said a 37-year-old man had been shot multiple times by his stepfather after an argument.
As deputies arrived, 50-year-old Mikey McGuire was leaving the scene in a vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies said McGuire struck a deputy’s vehicle as he sped away.

A short pursuit followed.
Deputies said McGuire crashed near the Steak ‘n Shake on 53rd Avenue West, then ran from the vehicle. He was quickly detained and arrested.
The victim was taken to Blake Hospital, where he remained in critical condition, according to the sheriff’s office.
McGuire faces charges including attempted murder, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and fleeing to elude.
The sheriff’s office said the shooting was an isolated incident related to a family dispute. All parties are accounted for.
The investigation is ongoing.
