SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation announced insurance company USAA is rolling out new ways to help military families cope with rising costs, thanks to legislative reforms.

USAA posted to its X account that Florida civil litigation and tort reforms have curbed legal system abuse. This is helping reduce the legal costs that were a significant driver of premium increases, enabling USAA to pass meaningful savings directly to its members.

The company says it’s expanding a nationwide effort to help build financial resilience with targeted insurance rate reductions, member dividends, safe driving discounts and new banking benefits.

Between December 2025 and July 2026, USAA says it will return nearly $1 billion to eligible members in Florida, including an average 14% cut in auto rates and hundreds of millions in dividends.

Starting June 15, about 830,000 Florida auto policyholders are expected to receive an average of $760, with more than a quarter getting over $1,000 back.
