EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - In honor of America turning 250 this year, Willard Public Library, in partnership with the Evansville Stamp Club, will be hosting a special postage stamp exhibit in the Browning Gallery.

The exhibit will feature historically significant and visually striking stamps that reflect the people, events and milestones that have shaped the U.S.

Officials say the display is free and open to the public during regular library hours.

14 News spoke with Arrika Taylor, who is a librarian at the Willard Public Library. She says, “I think it’s a combination of the history, also the artwork. I think it’s a neat thing to come see, if you’re a history buff, if you’re into stamps, into art or if you’re just curious.”

The postage stamp exhibit will take place from February 23 to March 23.

As part of the exhibit, the library will present a special program, “You’ve Got Mail: The History of the U.S. Postal Service and Its Impact on the Country,” on Monday, March 9 at 6 p.m. in the Browning Gallery.

They say the program will explore the evolution of the United States Postal Service and its vital role in connecting communities and shaping American history.

Attendees will gain insight into how the postal system helped unify a growing nation.

Both the exhibit and the program are free and open to the public.
