Talia Busser learning how to lead while going through adversity

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - This week’s ABC7 Athlete of the Week is Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School’s Talia Busser. She’s in her senior season with the Lady Cougars.

Things haven’t gotten out to the ideal hot start (4-5) that the community has become accustomed to seeing from this program. Busser says they are working their way back to that standard.

One of the biggest challenges for the team right now is having to take the court without Busser for the time being. The season started with her showing everyone how special she is as a talent on that court, but right now she’s on the sidelines.

As Busser fights through this injury, she’s still there for her team. Her head coach, Cortney Sawyer, tells ABC7 that it shows how committed to the program she really is.

Busser has already committed to play college basketball at Newberry College. So, she knows what the next step for her is. However, for right now, she’s focused on this team and what is happening in the present.

We will keep you updated on Busser and the Lady Cougars as they continue to progress throughout this season.
