Jadyn Brester preparing to say farewell to the Lady Rams volleyball program

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - This week’s ABC7 Athlete of the Week is Riverview High School’s Jadyn Brester. She’s a senior and a volleyball player for the Riverview Lady Rams.

“We’ve been doing certain drills to work on defense, connecting with setters for offense,” Brester said. “Kind of like just trying to put the team together so we can flow. It’s nervous and exciting. It’s just a lot of emotion.”

Although their season just came to an end, Brester says it’s been an enjoyable experience. She will always remember and cherish the memories that she made during her senior campaign.

“It’s so much fun,” Brester said. “This group of girls this year has probably been one of my favorites. We just connect so well off the court. We balance off of each other really well.”

As one of the senior leaders on the team, Brester is viewed as a leader on the court, and one of the extension’s of her coach, Jason Mocherman’s, voice. He tells ABC7 that he’s going to miss having her on the locker room.

“You know, Jadyn’s really a force on and off the court,” Mocherman said. “She’s an incredible student. She’s really involved here at the school, even with her teammates. She’s alwayshosting team meals and get togethers.”

Even though high school volleyball has ended for her, Brester doesn’t plan on this being the end of her volleyball journey. She hasn’t committed yet, but she wants to to play the game on the college level.

“I do have a few offers and pretty excited,” Brester said. “I’m pretty sure I’m going to announce early or late November where I’m committing to.”

When Brester makes her decision for where she will attend college. We’ll bring that information to you right here on ABC7.
