SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - A man attempted to save one of the triple homicide victims from Monday and he told ABC7 that he tried his best.

The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said the suspect, 28-year-old Javontee Brice, was wanted in connection to three shooting deaths, one being his mother. The three shootings all came at different locations in less than an hour. The incident culminated with Brice’s death in the overnight hours of Tuesday, June 25.

The first occurred at the Motel 6 in Bradenton. Deputies say Brice shot his mother, Titimysha Scott in front of his two sisters and his mother’s boyfriend before going after two other women.

David and Kristina are a married couple and they have lived in Motel 6 in Bradenton since April. They said it had been relatively quiet and calm until Monday night. They heard several gunshots go off and that’s when David, who is a Marine vet, jumped into action.

They live in the room underneath where the shooting happened so they heard a lot of the screams. David ran to the room and told his son to bring towels.

When he got inside the room, he found the woman, Bryce’s mom, pinned between the bed and the wall with several gunshot wounds.

“I told her to hang on,” he said.

He tried his best to help her but she was struggling to breathe. He stayed beside her until emergency services arrived.

David had run into Titimysha several times. “She was very nice and always said hello to everyone.”
