SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - On the surface, the weather today and over the weekend will seem a lot like early summer. We will start the day with sunshine and mild temperatures.

Then, under full sunshine, temperatures will warm into the 80s before lunch and mid-80s into the afternoon. Late in the afternoon clouds will grow inland and a few showers and thunderstorms will form. The storms will slowly move back to the Gulf waters and die out as they do so.

Sounds like June weather, right? Well with the exception of some slightly lower humidity and cooler temperatures, it is a very similar pattern.

Our best chances for rain over the next seven days will come over the next three days. Rain chances today will come in about 30% and climb to 50% for Saturday and Sunday. We have a stalled front in South Florida and a building east wind over us. That combination will bump up the humidity over the weekend and direct inland storms to drift closer to the coast by late in the day.

Next week some drier air will move in and reduce rain chances for a few days during the middle of the week.
