(WWSB) - A funeral service for 22-year-old Gabrielle Petito has been set for Sunday, Sept. 26, from noon to 5 p.m. in Holbrook, New York, her father said on Twitter Friday.
In lieu of flowers Gabby’s family is asking for donations to the future Gabby Petito Foundation. Donations can be made electronically at the https://Johnnymacfoundation.org.
The investigation into her disappearance and death continues. Gabby Petito vanished during a cross country road trip with her fiancé Brian Laundrie. He showed up at his parents’ home in North Port Sept. 1, alone, in Gabby’s van. Her remains were discovered in Wyoming Sept. 19 after an extensive ground search. The coroner classified the death as a homicide but the cause of the cause of death is still unknown.
Laundrie is now the subject of a nationwide manhunt.
A federal judge in Wyoming issued a warrant for his arrest Wednesday, after he allegedly made unauthorized debit card withdrawals of more than $1,000 during the period in which Petito went missing.
Multiple law enforcement agencies have been searching for Laundrie in Carlton Reserve, a 38-square-mile wilderness area near North Port, for the past week. His parents told police Sept. 17 that they had not seen him for several days and believed he went camping in the reserve.
Moloney Funeral Home is handling the arrangements for the service.
