SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office and State Fire Marshal’s Office are now investigating a death that occurred during a Wednesday evening mobile home fire, ABC7 has learned.

The fire happened around 7 p.m., at the Sun N Fun Resort on Fruitville Road. The sheriff’s office has confirmed that an 11-year-old girl was killed after rushing back inside the burning home. Witnesses believe Rilee Beisler, 11, was rushing inside to rescue her puppies.

The sheriff’s office is assisting the Sarasota County Fire Department with the investigation into the fire, which also resulted in two manufactured homes being destroyed.

The cause of the fire is not yet known and the investigation is ongoing.

The fire investigation is being led by the State Fire Marshal while detectives continue the death investigation in partnership with the Medical Examiner’s Office. At this time, officials believe Rilee died due to smoke inhalation. None of the puppies made it out.
