SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - “I am beyond words. I can’t even, thank you so much. I can’t do what I do without the people who help me for sure, there’s so many people I need to get through my days with and these kids are a big part of that,” said Lora Sevarino after a virtual surprise with ABC 7 and May Custom Home.

Lora Sevarino is the newest Manatee County Chalkboard Champion and recipient of $500. She is a teacher at McNeal Elementary School. This year has been a year like none before as she has taught all of her student’s through e-learning because of the pandemic.

“I tell them, guys we’re doing this together as a team so that’s really why we’re able to be as successful as we have been,” said Sevarino.

Despite the challenges of not being in the classroom, Sevarino has found a way to keep students engaged and learning.

“These kids are wonderful. They come on everyday to be with me, they give their all everyday,” she added.

Sevarino said she would not be able to do without the help from her school, students, and parents.

Thank you for everything you do to help Manatee County students learn!
