First Alert Weather: Freeze Watch for parts of the Suncoast Wednesday night

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - Clear skies and light winds with a cold and dry air mass in place is the perfect recipe for freezing temperatures. Tonight, those conditions will be close to being in line for our inland counties. Therefore, a Freeze Watch is up for Hardee and Desoto due to the potential of widespread freezing temperatures. The watch may be changed to a warning later in the day as the forecast evolves. Closer to the coast, where Gulf water temperatures are near 60, the temperatures will be higher.

As we move into Thursday and Friday the warm-up will begin and these very cool temperatures will moderate. In fact, we will be in the mid to upper 70′s by Saturday. However, another cold front will bring a chance for rains Saturday night into Sunday then stall to the south. We will have an increase in clouds and smaller chances for showers next work week till a second cold front scours out the clouds. Current models suggest that in about ten days a very cold front will approach Florida with a chance for North Florida snow flurries. Stay tuned as the forecast developes.
