SCAT driver tests positive for COVID

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) -A Sarasota County Area Transit driver tested positive for COVID-19 and county leaders are urging anyone who rode in their route to monitor for potential symptoms.

·Route 14, 2:15-7:03 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 5-6.

·Route 12, 1:45-9:10 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 7.

The county announced the positive SCAT driver on Sunday afternoon after the Florida Department of Health confirmed the positive test result on Saturday. County leaders say if you were a passenger on either of those routes and suspect you may have been exposed or have symptoms you are encouraged to go get tested at one of the free testing sites in the county.

In a release Sunday, a representative with the county tells ABC7 SCAT buses are thoroughly sanitized throughout the day and at night. SCAT drivers were provided facemasks, gloves, and hand sanitizer, according to the county. They also ask anyone who rides the bus to enter through the back door and practice social distancing.
