Cams, Closures and Calmness Coming to The Bay Sarasota
Osprey cams, road improvements and a relaxing afternoon in the fountain garden sound good to you?
SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - The Bay Sarasota has announced multiple various events happening soon in the area, some of which are virtual and others require some time outside!
First, the Osprey Nest Camera is now live on Bay Sarasota’s YouTube channel, of which you can view here. You may also want to check out their other webcams across the bay, in which case you may view them here. Brian Beckner of Native Bird Boxes, Inc installed the cameras.
Otherwise, you may want to keep yourself calm during these times as we continue on into the New Year. Although the Bay is under construction, the area is still open for business, for the most part. Walking, running, even watching the sunset is recommended by the Bay. A reminder, Bay Park Yoga takes place every Saturday at 9:30am this month. You may learn more about it here.
Lastly, lane closures will impact your commute in the near future, between January 11th through the 25th, the south end of Van Wezel Way will temporarily close in order to replace underground storm water pipes. The newer pipes will allow the flooding problem currently happening now to be solved, and allow for better stormwater treatment in the future. A separate project being run by the City of Sarasota to replace a waterline is also underway on Blvd. of the Arts. They advise that patterns may change due to these projects, and that you should use 10th Street as an alternative, and park along Van Wezel Way. Also, a new 10-foot-wide pedestrian/bike path was added to connect the Fruitville and 10th Street roundabouts.
