One taken to the hospital after car goes into creek in south Sarasota County

VENICE, Fla. (WWSB) -First responders say a person was taken to the hospital following a report of a car in the water in south Sarasota County.

The Sarasota County Fire Department says they responded to a report of a car in the water near Hatchett Creek Blvd and Derbyshire Drive around 6:37 p.m. Monday.

The county emergency services spokeswoman says the person was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital.

We have also reached out to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office on this case and we’re waiting to hear back.

No details have been released on the age of the person, if they were the only person in the car, how the car went into the creek near that intersection, what kind of injuries they sustained, or what they believe unfolded leading up to the incident.
