WAUCHULA, Fla. (WWSB) - Hurricane Iota is bearing down on Central America in the same areas hit by Eta two weeks ago. Now, a local organization is providing relief efforts to the area.
Harvest Aviation is in Wauchula, Florida. The group is a missionary disaster relief organization that provides help through their missionary partners in the Caribbean and Central America.
According to Executive Director Eric Martin, it will take years for this area to recover from two back to back hurricanes.
“Just general things like electricity, clean water, food, that takes time," says Martin.
Flooded runways have slowed down their efforts. And now, Hurricane Iota is moving in, complicating the relief and delaying the relief even more.
“Unfortunately, we can’t get in with a hurricane, so we have to wait it out.”
