SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) -Hurricane Zeta continues to show signs of intensification as it lifts north in the central Gulf waters. I is on an unchanged track for the northern Gulf coast. Swells propagating outward will increase our rip current risk for several day on the Suncoast beaches. Winds will also become a bit breezy, and although we currently have no Marine Advisories, we will have higher wave action on the Gulf waters. High pressure is steering Zeta away from the Suncoast and the sink air will bring higher temperatures again today. We may not break records, as we did yesterday, but we will get close. The record today is 92.
Zeta will get picked up by a cold front and pushed rapidly through the deep south tomorrow. That same cold front will pass by us early Friday with a few showers early on then clearing conditions, shifting winds and some slightly cooler weekend weather.
