Tropical storm season heads into the Greek alphabet following Wilfred

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - Tropical Storm Wilfred has formed in the Atlantic and now the naming system will go to the Greek alphabet in the National Hurricane Center .

It’s the second time ever that the Greek letter list has been utilized. The first was the 2005 hurricane season.

Subtropical Storm Alpha formed Friday near Portugal following the formation of Wilfred. It’s also possible that we will see the formation of Beta sometime in the overnight hours.
