BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. (WWSB) – An Amber Alert has been issued for a newborn boy out of Broward County Monday afternoon.

The child was located safely by authorities several hours later in Apopka.

According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, 2-week-old Joshua Quinteron was last seen in the area of Fisherman’s Drive in Coconut Creek. Authorities say he was last seen with his father, 17-year-old Jonathan Garcia.

According to WPLG, police determined the suspect forcibly removed his son from the child’s 15-year-old mother.

Witnesses told investigators the suspect was seen hitting and shaking the child as he was running away from the scene.

The child’s mother has a restraining order for Garcia. She told WPLG that Garcia beat her when she was eight months pregnant.

Garcia had been on the phone with the child’s mother during the time since he removed the child.

According to police, the investigation initially revealed that Garcia took an Uber with the child to Oakland Park.

It is not immediately known how Garcia and the child got from Oakland Park to Apopka.
