SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - Starting Tuesday, if you want to use the skate park at Payne Park in Sarasota, you no longer have to pay.
On Monday, the City Commission unanimously voted to eliminate the skate park’s user fee and directed staff to come up with a plan for future operation of the park.
“We’re excited to announce that the skate park is now free, making this great facility truly accessible for everyone in the community to enjoy,” said Parks and Recreation Director Jerry Fogle. “We’ll soon be bringing forward some more options on how we might provide the best service for the community at Payne skate park in a safe and welcoming environment.”
The skate park’s current operator, Sk8skool, will continue to handle operations in the meantime. The park is open from 2:30pm-9:30pm, Monday through Thursday, from 2:30pm-10pm on Friday, from 10am-10pm on Saturday, and from 10am-8pm on Sunday.
