MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. (WWSB) - Damage from an accident Sunday night left two lanes of I-75 South closed through the Monday morning commute.
Around 5pm on Sunday, a crash in that area of I-75 spilled around 150 gallons of diesel fuel onto the roadway. The spill extended around 1,000 yards and forced authorities to leave two lanes closed Monday morning between State Road 70 and University Parkway, backing up traffic for miles.
Diesel fuel eats away at the pavement, which is why authorities closed the roadway.
Crews worked on the road Monday to make repairs and opened the lanes around 1pm.
