Bill to combat harmful algal blooms advances

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - A bill to combat harmful algal blooms in Florida is advancing through the House.

The South Florida Clean Coastal Waters Act passed the House Science, Space and Technology committee On Thursday.

The bipartisan bill amends existing federal law and would require a specific action plan to reduce harmful algal blooms in Florida.

The legislation will now go before the full House for a vote.
