SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) -Students from Samoset Elementary School in Bradenton are just three days away from an exciting trip they have prepared for a long time.
On Sunday, 18 fifth grade students from the school will fly to Washington, D.C. to explore in and around the nation's capital.
Students and staff have raised for the trip for two years.
"Thank you for donating so we can go. Thank you for giving us spending money," said fifth grader Samuel Villalpando.
The students say they are most excited to visit Arlington National Cemetery, the Washington Monument, and other historical places.
“If you try your hardest to raise money to get your goals you might be able to go somewhere and experience new things,” said Jesus Rolan in response to two years of fundraising.
The students will spend three days up there exploring and learning about the country's history.
In all the trip costs about $24,000. The students and staff say they are so grateful to all the people who have donated to make this trip possible.
