PALMETTO, Fla. (WWSB) - A nearly four hour standoff with authorities in Manatee County has ended peacefully.

Palmetto police officers and Manatee County sheriff's deputies were called to a home in the 1900 block of 10th Street West around 7:00 Thursday night.

Police believed a man at the home was armed.

The stand-off ended around 10:30, when a deputy was able to safely talk him out of the house.

The man's wife came out of the house earlier in the night.

Police say no one was injured in this stand-off.

Chief Scott Tyler, Palmetto Police Department: We didn’t know if there were firearms or anything else inside so in abundance of caution we did evacuate the immediate vicinity, people are back in their homes now, they were cooperative, they understood...This is probably the best outcome we could hope for."

Police say the man may have some mental health issues and there was concern for his well being.

They are continuing with their investigation.

The man’s name has not been released and it is unknown if he will face any charges.
