SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - Saint Augustine Police spent the day learning about Sarasota’s Homeless Outreach Program.
The 2014 program is the first in the state to use a non-traditional approach to managing homelessness in the city.
The goal is to meet with homeless people in the community and let them know that services are available.
“Basically [it] is being dealt with in every city across the U.S. is how you respond to homelessness, what they consider one of the best practices that they want to immulate,” Coordinator of Homeless Response Sarasota, Kevin Stiff said.
Agencies as far as Indiana have come down to monitor this practice on how to use this in their own communities.
