SARASOTA (WWSB) - A U.S. Attorney announced on Tuesday that 11 individuals have entered guilty pleas stemming from multiple charges.

Those charges include a conspiracy to distribute, to possess with the intent to distribute, to manufacture, and to possess with the intent to manufacture at least one kilogram of heroin, at least 40 grams of fentanyl, carfentanil, furanyl fentanyl, cyclopropylfentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine.

A death actually occurred due to the intoxication of carfentanil. Law enforcement officers identified this an an overdose to a person who lived in Manatee County.

These 11 people were part of a drug trafficking organization (DTO) that was operated in and around Manatee and Pasco Counties, with ties to other criminal organizations in Georgia and elsewhere.

The investigation also resulted in the seizure of firearms and cash proceeds from the drug trafficking.

The case was investigated by many law enforcement forces including the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
