BRADENTON (WWSB) - A man was arrested on the streets of Bradenton Monday who was allegedly involved in a 46-year-old cold case. He is currently in North Carolina awaiting trial.
Larry Scott, 65, has been charged with first-degree murder and kidnapping in the 1972 death of North Carolina woman Bonnie Neighbors. Scott made his first court appearance this week.
Detectives say new technology in DNA testing that led them to Scott.
Neighbors disappeared while on her way to pick up her 7-year-old son from school. She took her other son, not quite 4 months old with her.
After a search that took several days, her body was found bound and with gunshot wounds. The baby was found near her body, cold but alive.
In court, Neighbors’ family recalled the moment they learned of her and her son’s fate.
