CAPE CORAL (WWSB) - A North Port man is behind bars after Cape Coral Police say he intentionally crashed into another vehicle while driving recklessly under the influence.
On Saturday, May 11, 2019 around 10:57 p.m. Cape Coral Police responded to a call at the 2400 block of Burnt Store Rd about a reckless driver later identified as 26-year-old Shazam Juman.
According to a release from the Cape Coral Police Department, someone called authorities about a white pick-up truck driving recklessly onto Burnt Store Rd. The caller told police Juman was spinning his car around and stopping traffic in both directions.
According to the release, Juman intentionally crashed into a Porche Cayenne, head on. The Porche had two people inside the car. Police say after the first crash, Juman then backed up his truck and hit the Porche again.
Police eventually caught up with the suspect at a local gas station near the crash. Police say when they stopped Juman he showed signs of impairment and got out of the car very slowly. Police say they smelt a strong odor of alcohol on his breath and himself.
Police say after they spoke with the victims inside the Porche, who said they felt like they were going to be killed by the driver of the white-pick up truck.
Police say Juman refused to take a breath test. He was charged with 2-counts of Aggravated Assault With Deadly weapon, DUI, DUI With Property Damage, Reckless Driving, and Criminal Mischief.
