The weekend brings some changes to our recent weather pattern along the Suncoast

Say goodbye to the afternoon and evening storms at least through the weekend

First Alert Weather - 6:00pm May 10, 2019

SARASOTA (WWSB) - After several days of afternoon and evening storms things will quiet down for the weekend as winds shift to the SSW in advance of a cold front. This front will eventually move down to our area on Monday which will bring an increase in cloudiness and a return to a good chance for showers and a few thunderstorms .

For Saturday expect mostly sunny skies with highs in the mid 80s near the coast and area beaches with upper 80s inland . There is a 20% chance for a late day shower or two but these will be well inland pushing toward the E. coast.

For Mother’s day we can expect generally partly cloudy skies with highs in the mid 80s at the beach and upper 80s inland . Once again only a 20% chance for a scattered storm or two and if they do develop they will be well inland pushing toward the east once again away from the Suncoast.

Monday look for partly cloudy skies and a 40% chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms with a high in the mid 80s . This front will get hung up over Central Florida and be close enough to us to allow for more rain through much of the work week .

Boaters expect winds out of the SSW at 10 kts. and seas 1-2 feet and a light chop on the bays . Sunday those winds will pick up a bit in the afternoon as the front gets closer.

Happy Mother’s day to all the moms .
