Man struck by truck while crossing U.S. 41 in Sarasota

SARASOTA (WWSB) - A man was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle while crossing U.S. 41 in Sarasota Wednesday night.

The accident happened around 9:30pm on North Tamiami Trail near 42nd Street. The man was crossing the road when he was struck by a truck traveling northbound.

The man was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital via trauma alert with serious injuries.

The driver stayed on scene and cooperated with police, who closed the roadway for around two hours during their investigation. The roadway has since re-opened.

The crash remains under investigation.
