BRADENTON (WWSB) - Deputies say two men tried to rob a man at his home in Manatee County around 9:30am Tuesday/

But the 28-year-old homeowner, who lives in the area of 48th Avenue West in Bradenton, saw the two men approaching. One suspect came towards the front door while the other came towards the backdoor. Both were armed with screwdrivers to try to get into the home.

Deputies say the homeowner was armed and after seeing a gun in one of the suspect’s hand, fired his gun several times towards the armed suspect.

Both suspects took off running and the homeowner called 911.

Deputies spent much of the morning and afternoon searching the area for the suspects with a helicopter in the air. Following leads, deputies say they arrested one 31-year-old suspect and charged him with armed burglary.

The suspect’s name has not been released and the other suspect remains at-large. No description of the suspect has been provided.

The investigation continues.
