SARASOTA (WWSB) - A physical disturbance on the 19000 block of Midway Boulevard led to the death of a Charlotte County resident.

Rondale A. Robbins is being charged with manslaughter for his role in the death of the victim.

At approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday evening, deputies responded to the scene in reference to a reported stabbing.

As the first deputies arrived on scene the male victim was observed lying in the roadway on Midway Boulevard and visibly injured.

He was transported to a local hospital before being transported to the Lee County Trauma Center where he was later pronounced deceased.

Deputies say that witnesses on the scene attempted lifesaving measures for the victim.

Robbins and the victim were the only two subjects involved in the disturbance.

Deputies say Robbins left the scene with a female subject that he originally arrived with. They were later found by deputies at a residence on Pinetree Street in Port Charlotte.

Robbins is currently being held in the Charlotte County Jail.
