BRADENTON (WWSB) - Deputies say a 29-year-old man wanted for aggravated battery on a 26-year-old victim was bitten by a K9 officer after refusing to leave bushes along a Bradenton golf course Sunday night.
Deputies were first called to a home on River trace Circle E in Bradenton around 6:15pm and made contact with the suspect, Joshua Roy, who they wanted to take into custody for allegedly attacking another man.
But deputies say Roy ran off and they called for backup. A K9 officer responded and saw Roy running along the perimeter of River Run Golf Course.
Deputies say Roy hid in bushes along the edge of the golf course and refused to come out, saying, "Why would I stand up and show you my hands? That doesn’t make sense.”
The K9 officer entered the pushes and bit Roy, who sustained minor punctures to his right arm. He was removed from the bushes and treated by EMS before being taken to a hospital, then later to jail.
Roy is charged with aggravated battery and resisting arrest without violence.
