VENICE (WWSB) - The city of Venice is looking to boost its security.
Next Tuesday, officials are expected to vote on a more than $200,000 plan. If passed it will add surveillance cameras in and near downtown.
Eight cameras would be installed downtown and three would be installed at the airport festival grounds a couple of miles away.
The contract would be with a Tampa-based company. They say their system allows trained officers to search video by parameters such as the color of your shirt, the direction of travel and transportation.
Also in the proposal is a rapid-deployment unit with a camera for the police department.
