Stolen car crashes into duplex

SARASOTA (WWSB) - Deputies are searching for the driver of a stolen vehicle that crashed into a duplex in Bradenton Thursday afternoon.

At approximately 1:40 p.m. on Thursday, a detective with the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office observed a reckless driver in a Black Honda leaving a home on 2nd Street West heading westbound.

The vehicle was confirmed stolen earlier in the day. As the detective was calling the tag number, the vehicle began to maneuver even more recklessly eastbound on 61st Avenue West.

The vehicle could not make the curve at 61st and 2nd Street West and drove into the living room of a home on 2nd Street West.

The driver took off on foot and authorities are still searching for him. He is is being described as a black male who was wearing a gray shirt, khaki shorts, and has black hair with gold highlights.

The passenger in the vehicle, a juvenile, was detained on the scene and later arrested for trespassing in a conveyance. He was transported to Manatee Memorial Hospital after he complained of leg pain.

The damaged residence was evacuated along with the adjoining duplex. Several people were inside the home at the time, but none of them were injured.
