Body found floating in Manatee River near Green Bridge
The victim may have accidentally drowned, according to deputies.
MANATEE COUNTY, FL (WWSB) - Manatee County investigators are searching for a boat after the body of its owner was found floating in the Manatee River on Sunday.
According to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, a person saw a body floating in the river near the Green Bridge around 9 a.m. Sunday. Palmetto Police and MCSO’s Marine Unit responded to the scene. The body was brought to the Palmetto boat ramp.
Deputies have identified the victim as 58-year-old Daniel Robert Dade. Shortly after officials identified the body, Dade’s wife Rayma reported him missing.
Rayma told deputies she last heard from her husband around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, around the time he left his home by boat to sail to Woody’s River Roo restaurant. Witnesses at Woody’s told deputies he was drinking alcoholic beverages at the restaurant and bar, and left around 8:30 p.m.
Deputies believe Daniel may have accidentally drowned. Investigators continue to search for his boat.
