The U.S. is slowly losing members of the "Greatest Generation."

SARASOTA (WWSB) - America is honoring “The Greatest Generation.”

We can credit journalist Tom Brokaw for first describing World War II veterans as the greatest generation, but we’re slowly losing them to sickness and old age. The men and women grew up during the great depression, and they’ve done a lot more than just serve during the second world war.

The Hoover Institution reports more than 1,000 veterans from “The Greatest Generation” are dying each day. 16,000,000 Americans served at one time during WWII, now only about half a million are still alive today.
