First Alert Weather: Cold front to bring a chill to Suncoast

No rain expected with the front

SARASOTA (WWSB) - You will get a chance to wear that new sweater or jacket you may have gotten for the holidays. Winter has been rather mild along the Suncoast so far, but we will get a taste of some Florida winter weather mainly on Thursday and Friday.

A chilly start to Thursday
A chilly start to Thursday

The cold front will move through without much fanfare as I am not expecting any rainfall with this front. The atmosphere is too dry to squeeze out any significant rainfall with this cold front. We will see an increase in cloudiness however beginning Wednesday and it will turn a bit breezy in the afternoon.

WWSB First Alert Weather

Wednesday will not be all that cool, in fact the lows to start the day will be in the upper 50s to low 60s, which is about 6-9 degrees above average. The high on Wednesday will be seasonal nearing 70 degrees by noon.

Thursday we start off cold with lows in the mid 40s and a wind out of the N at 10-15 mph will make it feel a little colder. There will be plenty of sunshine on Thursday but temperatures will only warm into the low 60s. Thursday night through Friday morning will be the coolest with lows in the low 40s over most places and mid 40s at the beaches.

We will see a quick turnaround over the weekend. Expect partly cloudy skies and highs back into the mid 70s.
