SARASOTA, Fla. -- A non-profit group dedicated to honoring the legacy of the World War II generation will be making several tour stops around Sarasota Thursday.

Austin and Bonnie O'Neill have traveled 25,000 miles to announce the beginning of the 70th anniversary of the end of WWII, which will be celebrated nationally and even globally over the next 12 months.

Their Spirit of '45 Express bus arrived on the Suncoast Wednesday with a stop at the Unconditional Surrender statue on the bayfront.

The group plans to make stops Thursday at J.D. Hamel Park, the Sarasota National Cemetery, and perform taps at sunset near South Lido Park.

ABC 7's Max Winitz will have more on this story tonight on ABC 7 News.
