VENICE, FL - Divers have discovered a plane believed to be from the World War II era just 1.5 miles off the coast of Venice. Wes Kirpach telling ABC that he and his wife and mother in law were looking for sharks teeth when they came across the wreck.
After doing some research they discovered a P-47D Thunderbolt fighter plane went down in the area on October of 1943.
The Venice Museum and Archives have been handed a few pieces but will look into how the entire plane can be salvaged.
