SARASOTA, FL - No matter what happens in Washington, D.C. today, the U.S. government will likely shut down this week.

The effects of a shutdown, which hasn't happened since 1995, will be widespread.

From loans for homebuyers and businesses, to gun permits, the effects will undoubtedly be felt on the Suncoast.

ABC 7 Reporter Trevor Shirley is taking a closer look at how.
